The us rubber and plastics machinery trade rebounded in 2011, and figures from the first three months of 2012 showed that the trend towards exports and imports was roughly the same as last year.
U.S. exports of rubber and plastic machinery exceeded $1.5 billion in 2011. Such machinery exports have been growing modestly in recent years, after reaching $1.2 billion in 2009. In 2008, the United States exported about $1.4 billion worth of rubber and plastic machinery. As of April, the United States had exported more than $522 million worth of rubber and plastic machinery. The value of American imports of rubber and plastic machinery reached $2 billion for the first time since 2008. Imports fell to $1.3 billion in 2009, up from $2.16 billion last year. In the first four months of 2012, U.S. imports were $7334 million.
